Settlement Offer

What this letter does

This letter offers a collector a smaller, one-time payment to close the account for good. Use it when you can raise a lump sum and want the matter over. It asks for a signed agreement before you pay, and it does not admit that you owe the debt.

Without admitting that I owe the amount you claim, or any amount, I offer to pay $1,250.00 as full and final settlement of this account. This offer is made on the following conditions, each of which must be confirmed in writing, on your company letterhead and signed by an authorized representative, before I send any payment: 1. Your acceptance of $1,250.00 as payment in full, with the remaining balance waived and not sold, assigned, or transferred to any other party for collection. 2. Your agreement that no further collection activity of any kind will occur on this account after payment is received. 3. Your agreement that, if this account has been reported to any consumer reporting agency, you will update it to reflect a zero balance and a status of "paid in full" or "settled," and that you will not report any new negative information. 4. Your confirmation that the original creditor has been or will be notified that the account is resolved. Upon receipt of your signed written acceptance, I will send payment by cashier’s check or money order within 10 business days. I will not make any payment by phone, and I will not provide bank account or debit card information. This offer remains open until July 1, 2026. If I do not receive a signed acceptance by that date, the offer is withdrawn, and this letter may not be treated as an acknowledgment of the debt, a promise to pay, or a waiver of any dispute or defense I may have.
