Before You Pay · the rule, in plain words

3 questions to ask before paying any medical bill.

One: "Can I get the itemized statement with the codes?" Two: "Does this match what my insurance allowed?" Check the statement your insurance sent, the one that says "this is not a bill", or your Medicare Summary Notice. Three: "Can I be screened for financial assistance?" Ask all three. Then pay what is actually right, not what is printed.

Question one is "can I get the itemized statement?" When you have it, this reads it for you.

The check is free. The letter is the paid part: you print and mail it yourself, or we send it by certified mail for you. No account needed to start.

This is the general rule, in plain words. BillFighter is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. If you have been served with court papers, that is the day for a lawyer or legal aid.
